Dirty Litlle Secret by Jennifer Echols

Synopsis
16058488Bailey wasn’t always a wild child and the black sheep of her family. She used to play fiddle and tour the music circuit with her sister, Julie, who sang and played guitar. That ended when country music execs swooped in and signed Julie to a solo deal. Never mind that Julie and Bailey were a duet, or that Bailey was their songwriter. The music scouts wanted only Julie, and their parents were content to sit by and let her fulfill her dreams while Bailey’s were hushed away.

Bailey has tried to numb the pain and disappointment over what could have been. And as Julie’s debut album is set to hit the charts, her parents get fed up with Bailey’s antics and ship her off to granddad’s house in Nashville. Playing fiddle in washed-up tribute groups at the mall, Bailey meets Sam, a handsome and oh-so-persuasive guitarist with his own band. He knows Bailey’s fiddle playing is just the thing his band needs to break into the industry. But this life has broken Bailey’s heart once before. She isn’t sure she’s ready to let Sam take her there again…

Opinion
The synopsis of the book picked up my interest because it’s about music and because it’s written by Jennifer Echols.

I really like the plot of the book. Bailey a fiddle player lost her music future because her younger sister got contracted as a solo artist. After that Bailey loses herself completely a sweet girl turns into a rebellious girl that does everything to defy her parents. That’s until she meets Sam, he has had his fair share of problems. But Sam is even more trouble than Bailey is. He wants to make it in the music circuit and he does everything to achieve that goal, even if that means breaking girls their heart and using his friends. And that’s why I wanted to kick him, something good is standing in front of him but he doesn’t even notice because the only thing he sees is the record deal that is shining in the distance. But at the same time I loved him, yes he’s a total douche, but in the end he cares about his friends. And he’s always been honest about his passion for music and what he’s willing to do for it.
And then there are Baileys parents, all I can say is that I’m happy that they are not mine. I can understand that they pursue a music career for Baileys younger sister when she has a chance. But what I don’t understand is that they can’t understand is that they don’t understand that Bailey is unhappy and that they just put her away with her granddad like she doesn’t exists anymore.
The only thing that I found lacking in this book was the chemistry between Bailey and Sam. Yes I could see that they were attracted to each other, but that’s it. Maybe it’s because the timespan of the book is only one week, but I couldn’t really feel the chemistry between the both of them. Other than that I really enjoyed Dirty Little Secret and I’m definitely going to read more books from Jennifer Echols.
